A regular member of the Police force in Boracay Island was under hot water for confronting a man who threw a cigarette butt in the beach.

Malay, Aklan has a strict ordinance on smoking in the public places especially in Boracay where the beaches are given utmost care. There is no exemption on this policy, according to Malay Chief of Police P/Supt. Teodoro Lacsamana.

The apprehended police officer, PO2 Manuel Siason, shouted to the unknown man for throwing a cigarette butt in the beach on Friday at around 7pm. Since the police force implement the ordinance very strictly on anti-smoking and littering, the police officer, issued a ticket to the man with a fine of P500. Additionally, he ordered the man to pick up the cigarette butt he just threw away.

PO2 Manuel Siason did not notice that the man whom he scolded for violating the ordinance was actually former president Benigno Aquino III.

“Hindi naman kasi siya nagreklamo nong sinabi ko na damputin niya yong upos. Wala ring body guard kaya sino ba naman ang mag-aakalang si Pnoy yon”, Siason told local reporters.

Since the ticket was already issued, he cannot take it back after discovering that he actually dealt with the former president.

“Hindi naman kasi siya nagreklamo nong sinabi ko na damputin niya yong upos. Wala ring body guard kaya sino ba naman ang mag-aakalang si Pnoy yon”, Siason told local reporters.

Former president Aquino was known as a chain smoker and this is not the first time that his bad smoking habit has put him in an odd or difficult situation.

According to sources, the bachelor ex president was at the island to take a break and unwind for a week with an unnamed female companion.
