Noli De Castro, the former Vice President of the Philippines, refuse to apologize to Charice Pempengco, err, Jake Zyrus for his remarks regarding the transitioning of the latter on the July 10 episode of TV Patrol.

Co-anchor Ted Failon commented on the changes of Charice's, errrr, we mean Jake Zyrus's voice on the said episode and the former VP blurted out that, "Ang tawag diyan ay climate change. Madaming talagang nagbabago ngayon." (That's called climate change. There are really many changes happening nowadays.)

The said remarks have caused a lot of uproars online and in the mainstream media. Some netizens said that his remark was tongue-lash against Jake Zyrus. Others mentioned that Mr. Noli is suffering from homophobia.

Even the National Youth Commission shared their take on the issue and stated that the former VP has lambasted the young singer. Moreover, the remark was taken by the commission as a prejudice against the LGBT community. It was pointed out that the statement of the popular broadcaster showcased discrimination against the LGBT people thereby setting a bad example to the youth of today.

The former VP and popular anchor refused to issue a public apology to Jake Zyrus. It can be noted that he merely used a metaphor to describe the transition that the singer is going through at present. The statement was not meant to criticize and belittle Jake Xyrus but merely to describe the phase that the singer is going through at present.
